Quick Tip

Buttermilk

1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice/vinegar

Stir and let sit 5 min to curdle.

Fresh Herbs (like parsley, dill, thyme)

Dried herbs (use 1/3 the amount)

Sprinkle lightly — dried herbs are stronger.

Heavy Cream

Whole milk + a bit of butter (2 tbsp per 1 cup)

Melt butter first for best mix.

Chicken Broth

Water + bouillon cube or salted butter

Taste and adjust salt at the end.

Fresh Lemon Juice

White vinegar or bottled lemon juice

Use slightly less vinegar (it's punchier).

Eggs (for baking)

1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or 1/4 cup Greek yogurt

Great for muffins, cakes, and breads.

Unsalted Butter

Salted butter (reduce salt in recipe)

Pull back ~1/4 tsp salt elsewhere to avoid over seasoning.

Brown Sugar

White sugar + a splash of molasses or maple syrup

Mix well before using.

Bread Crumbs

Crushed crackers, pretzels, or panko

Season lightly if plain.

Puff Pastry

Crescent roll dough or phyllo sheets

Adjust baking times (phyllo cooks faster).

Ricotta Cheese

Cottage cheese (blend it for smoothness)

Blend with a little cream for richness.

Ham

Smoked turkey or roast chicken slices

Warm with glaze for Easter vibes.

Spring Veggies (like asparagus)

Broccoli, green beans, or zucchini

Blanch to avoid overcooking.

Pie Crust

Graham cracker crust or phyllo layers

Phyllo makes it fancy and flaky.
